Evergreen

EVERGREEN MARINE CORPORATION (TAIWAN) LTD. (EMC) has cemented its place in maritime history since its founding by Dr. Yung-Fa Chang on September 1, 1968. It has not only survived, but prospered, on hard work and perseverance since those early days, and now has a fleet of over 160 container ships. EMC is one of the largest international shipping corporations in the world, both in terms of fleet size and cargo loading capacity. It was not, however, constructed overnight. When the globe was beset by the energy crisis in 1975, and the shipping sector was in a downturn, EMC had boldly started its containership project, which offered novel yet practical ideas about how to create the future. It began a comprehensive container service on routes connecting the Far East and the US West Coast with a newly built fleet of containerships. EMC's containership fleet was Taiwan's first of its kind. EMC made another groundbreaking move in 1984 when it launched a global east-west complete container service. Its ships cruised throughout the Asian, European, and American continents. Evergreen became the undisputed leader in the provision of cost-effective and convenient transportation services for worldwide industries as a result of this move.EMC's shipping network spans 114 countries and 315 service locations. Evergreen's network includes several east-west routes connecting Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Korea, and Japan to the US's east and west coasts. It also flies to Europe and the Mediterranean from Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia. EMC's containerships connect Asia with Africa and South America, as well as Europe with the US east coast, and are used on a variety of busy sailing routes across Asia. They visit India, the Middle East, and the Red Sea, as well as travel on the Asia-Australia north-south route. Evergreen operates a full container service between the east coast of the United States and the east coast of South America, as well as between Panama and the west coast of South America. Aside from the main routes, regular feeder services are provided in the Caribbean and the Indian subcontinent, reducing delivery times and thereby benefiting cargo owners.
